Stipendium Hungaricum eligibility criteria

  • Citizen of an eligible sending partner country
  • Apply through the home country's responsible authority
  • Meet the host institution's academic entry requirements
  • Meet language proficiency set by the host institution
  • Hungarian-language studies require B2 or a 1-year preparatory course
  • Not born after 31 August 2008 (minimum age threshold; Dance exempt)

Benefits and coverage

  • Tuition-free education (full tuition covered)
  • Monthly stipend HUF 43,700 for non-degree/Bachelor/Master/one-tier Master
  • PhD stipend HUF 140,000/month (phase 1) then HUF 180,000/month (phase 2)
  • Free dormitory place or HUF 40,000/month accommodation contribution
  • Medical insurance (national health service plus supplementary up to HUF 65,000/year)
